Middle Level Commissioners - Cambridgeshire
Contract value: £377,000
Electrical: £237,000
Main contractor: Relmfield Builders Ltd
This project involved the development of two large facilities. The first was an office administration building. This consisted of several double volume spaces and a unique cross shaped architectural atrium, which formed a network of central corridors.
The second was a mechanical depot warehouse-style building. This had service pits, a high level cranem welding shop and an extensive open-plan machine shop area.
The electrical works AAC undertook consisted of an array of systems including an extensive architectural, lighting and power scheme throughout. Wiring was structured for IT and telephone systems along with the installation of fire alarms and intruder systems. LPS lightning protection systems were used in both buildings, which were complete with obligatory surge protection for the electronic equipment within the buildings.
Mymwood House - Hatfield, Hertfordshire
Contract value: £700,000
Main contractor: Relmfield Builders Ltd
AAC completed a refurbishment of a grade ll listed manor house and the adjacent new build. This was a specialist residential care facility for autism sufferers holding 36 patients. The building consisted of day rooms, kitchens, laundry facilities, nurse stations and extensive staff offices.
The electrical installations AAC carried out were specialised to suit this building and the services it provided. Extensive anti-ligature lighting and power schemes were installed throughout, along with IT and telephone systems. State-of-the-art addressable panic attack and fire alarms systems were installed to silently inform staff in all areas via pagers using localised transponders. Honeywell restricted access and CCTV systems were used on 50 doors and entrances.
Coopers of Stortford - Braintree, Essex
Contract value: £200,000
Main contractor: Harmonix Construction Ltd
This project consisted of a 67,270 sq ft warehouse which was divided internally into 3 areas. The goods in loading bay area had four high roller shutter doors with integral Translyft units. The main warehouse racking area had 14 rows of 10m high racking. The suite of administration offices had an adjacent returns area.
The project was subject to stringent planning and BREEAM constraints, our main task was to ensure the design was efficient.
Due to the vast size of the warehouse space, AAC employed an efficient, low energy, high rack lighting scheme with T5 lamps and timed movement sensors. Flexible bus bar systems were installed to serve transportable machinery. AAC also installed a range of other electrical services including LPS, emergency lighting, fire alarms, CCTV & intruder systems together with structured voice/data wiring.
